At Gastonia Dental Group, our dentist recommends two minutes as a minimum time for brushing your teeth. Most men and women think they brush that long, but would be surprised if they actually set a timer. Most of us only brush for about a minute, if that.
We also recommend, strongly, that you brush your teeth at least twice each day. After each meal is better, but twice a day should be your goal. One of those times should be right before going to bed. Whenever you brush, be sure to use a tootypaste with fluoride.
In addition, you should be flossing your teeth. Flossing once a day is the minimum; again, after every meal is best. Many people find it tricky to floss during the day, because they’re out and about and don’t have time. You might try using a floss pick, or an inter-dental cleaning (but not a toothpick).
